Secondary Soda Can Tab Collection
Secondary Houses collected 30 pounds of soda and soup can tabs in the 2nd quarter! This donation will benefit Ronald McDonald House in honor and memory of Private First Class Alyssa Cahoon, a 17 year old PA Army National Guard soldier who passed away at training in August 2022. Her family asked that soda can tabs be collected and donated to Ronald McDonald House with #kissesforAly.
Standings for Houses will be announced during House announcements this week!
Keep those tabs coming!
CCS Announces Math Songs!
CCS – Family Letter
Dear CCS Families,
We are excited to introduce you to a new math resource we will be using at CCS beginning this year! MATH SONGS is a new collection of songs designed to help students master their math facts. Sarah Brown, our Recitation teacher, is the creator of this new resource that covers skip counting, multiplication tables and, for older students, conversions & area. We are looking forward to incorporating these songs into our math curriculum, bringing beauty and fun into a subject
that for many students can be anxiety producing! You can watch this introductory video by Sarah to learn more about the advantages of bringing beauty and music into our students’ experience of math. . https://youtu.be/qfpxsVbEpTU
In addition to our teachers using them in the classroom, we have purchased one copy for each family in K-8th grade! We know you are going to love using these winsome and engaging songs in your home to support your students as they get grounded in the fundamentals of counting in groups and more!
What should you do next? Go to math-songs.com and explore the website to see what Math Songs offers. We’ve purchased The Collection for you, which is 3 albums + Visual Aids + Learning by Layering – the neuroscientific learning strategies that will take your child’s learning to the next level! Simply go to the SHOP page, put The Collection in your cart, and at the checkout put in the discount code COV22. This will make your purchase free to you.
From there you will have access to all the products. Your albums will not be in a hard copy form. They will only be accessed at the website using a special digital player that has unique features like playback speed control that assist your child’s learning process. This video explains how to access your albums! https://youtu.be/TR-SUPwi7KI
How to use Math Songs
Read the Learning by Layering PDF included in your purchase for a full list of ideas, but here’s some to get you started…
- ● For students who need concentrated support, pick the fact family you want to focus on and listen to only that one until it’s mastered, using the Learning by Layering tips to solidify the learning process.
- ● Follow along with the fact-family your child is working on in class.
- ● Play them in the car or at home for fun – they’re very engaging and won’t make mom and dad crazy! We are looking forward to using this resource together and helping our students master their math facts, engage in beauty and reduce some of the anxiety some of them may feel around math! Blessings, Jill Barton
