Mrs. Dove’s class visits The Panathenaic Stadium via virtual reality!
Mrs. Dove’s Third Grade took a trip to Athens, Greece to see The Panathenaic Stadium with the CCS Virtual Reality machine! This is the only stadium built completely out of marble, in the world.
After being abandoned in the 14th century, it was eventually refurbished during the late 1800’s. It hosted the opening and closing ceremonies of the first modern Olympics in 1896 and hosted 4 of the 9 competitions. Throughout the 20th century it was used for a variety of purposes and was once again used for the Olympics in 2004. This fits well with our recent History topic, “The Olympics”, which is part of our Greek and Roman History section.
